The northern gateway to Reef and Rainforest!

Itinerary

DAY 1

Arrival Cairns
Arrive at Cairns Airport. Welcome to the tropical North of Australia and Hello Far North Queensland, gateway to the world-famous Barrier Reef. Transfer to your city hotel where your room will be ready from approximately 3 PM. Remainder of the day at leisure. Tonight, you might pop in at the Cairns Night Markets before heading to the Cairns Esplanade, where dozens of restaurants and eateries will tantalise your taste buds. In the tropical North, food is all about fresh produce: There is a bountiful supply of freshest fish and seafood, tropical fruit and vegetables and much more to choose from – Be adventurous..!

DAY 2

Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures, half day city tour [ B ]
The morning is at your leisure; why not relax around the hotel’s swimming pool? Around midday, you will be picked up for a “wild” adventure: Take part in the afternoon tour at Hartley's Crocodile Adventures - the very best place to see crocodiles up close and personal anywhere in Far North Queensland. Hartley's Creek is a well-established wildlife attraction and a working crocodile farm at the same time. Here, skin and leather products as well as crocodile meat for both, export and domestic consumption, are produced. Join a unique eco experience on the lagoon cruise through the ecologically significant melaleuca wetlands, the very domain of the mighty saltwater crocodile. Explore the rest of the park with its abundance of wildlife and water birds, turtles, wallabies and cassowaries at your leisure. You will also get to see the notorious head shake and death roll of a huge crocodile at the “Crocodile Attack Show” and there is even the [very safe] opportunity to hold a crocodile for a photo [charge applies]. This tour provides you with an insight into crocodile farming and it will also give you and understanding how people in Australia’s tropical North live side-by-side with these amazing creatures that did not have the need to change or adapt in over 200 million years. Set down at approximately 17.30 PM.

DAY 3

More time to explore Cairns or optional tours [ B ]
After breakfast, the day is yours to discover more of Cairns and Far North Queensland at your own pace. Alternatively, you can book an optional Great Barrier Reef day cruise by motor vessel or sailing yacht, a tour to the ancient Daintree and Cape Tribulation Rainforests or a tour to Kuranda and the Atherton Tablelands. See more information about “Optional Tours Cairns” below.

DAY 4
